Auburn Seminary supports U.S. Supreme Court decision on access to reproductive health care

NEW YORK — Following today’s U.S. Supreme court decision, which overturned HB2, Auburn Seminary issued the following statement:

“Auburn Seminary supports the Supreme Court’s decision today to restore access to women’s reproductive health care. Our value of ‘wholeness’ means we honor the idea that health and wellness — in both body and spirit — should be afforded to all. People everywhere should be able to access the resources they need to thrive spiritually, emotionally and physically, which includes sexual and reproductive health care.

The Texas law not only interfered with women’s access to legal abortion services, but it also blocked women from obtaining essential preventative health care. Those who suffered the most were women of color and poor and immigrant women — communities that already face significant barriers to accessing care.

Reproductive choices are a matter of individual conscience and as people of faith we support the rights of women to make choices based on their own ethical and spiritual convictions.”
