Matthew Deen supports the Strategic Philanthropy team’s efforts to identify and secure funding to strengthen Auburn’s work. Previously he served as Senior Grant Writer and Development Manager for WE ACT for Environmental Justice, where he managed the organization’s institutional grants across all stages, from cultivating awards to ensuring compliance with the terms of each. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Chattahoochee RiverWarden–a community-based organization in his native Columbus, Georgia. He also works on a voluntary basis with the Micah Institute for Social Justice, Franciscan Action Network, and the Humane League. Matthew holds a B.A. in Professional Writing from Columbus State University and is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity degree from New York Theological Seminary. In those rare and all-too-fleeting moments when he is not working or studying, he is most likely hiking, kayaking, reading, or wrestling with his Rat Terrier, Oliver.
