The Psalm of Howard Thurman
The Psalm of Howard Thurman
Howard Thurman is not a household name, yet Thurman has had an enduring impact on religious life and thought both in America and abroad. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., listed Thurman, along with Winston Churchill and Albert Einstein, as “one of the ten greatest men of the twentieth century,” and Life Magazine described him in 1953 as one of the greatest religious leaders of his time.
The Psalm of Howard Thurman will bring to life the story of this remarkable individual, who established the nation’s first interracial, intercultural and interfaith congregation and who advocated tirelessly for community among disparate races and faiths, who collaborated with religious leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, and who played an inspirational role in the Civil Rights Movement.
