Macky Alston and Parisa Parsa’s talk on Bridging Divides. Parisa has a fascinating personal story and concrete advice on how to connect with folks you may feel you have nothing in common with. She also has insights into the science behind why we often lose our cool in the heat of the moment.

Parisa was born in Iran and is an ordained Unitarian Universalist minister, she now serves as executive director at Essential Partners in Boston. The organization works with communities worldwide to create dialogue across difference.

Bridging Divides is a training curated at Auburn by Macky Alston, and draws from leading practitioners in the field, who are exploring ways to engage people across difference, divide, or disagreement and craft a strategy that works best in light of goals and cultural context.
